Sivasakti Sivanesan

Given birth to in Jaffna in the north component of Sri Lanka on Feb 21, 1957, the classical vocalists and vina participant Sivasakti or Sivashakti Sivanesan started her formal initiation into Carnatic music at age five using the composer and choreographer Yalpanam N. Veeramani Iyer. She afterwards discovered from N. Shanmuraratnam. Her research eventually got her towards the Tamil Nadu Federal government Music University in Madras where she her professors of music included the vocalists D.K. Jayaraman, Sandiyavandanam Srinivasa Rao and B. Rajam Iyer. Since 1984 she’s been London-based. In 1992 she’s constructed the music to get a dance drama known as Gitagovindam. She actually is also a Bharata Natyam dancer and vocal instructor.
