Situationists

Hailing from Sheffield, the four-piece Situationists possess shaken from the inevitable Arctic Monkeys comparisons because of their make of spiky angular guitar pop, more comparable to Bloc Get together than Alex Turner and firm. Formed from your remnants from the hotly tipped but short-lived Umlaut in 2006, frontman Dan Shamplin-Hall, guitarist Sam Weatherald, bassist Nick Cox, and drummer Ralf Wilson documented their first demonstration in a cellar using two microphones bought from Poundland. This D.We.Y. approach discovered support from famous brands Steve Lamacq, Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, and XFM’s John Kennedy, who invited the group to try out an X-Posure live program in Manchester. The bandmembers spent the others of 2007 composing and recording fresh songs within their personal temporary studio room. A year later on, they released their 1st EP, the limited-edition This Town Holds PEOPLE, through Tough Like Information. The Situationists also produced the ultimate 14 in Virgin Mobile’s Street to V competition, backed the Futureheads within their hometown, and gained a slot around the BBC Presenting… stage in the Reading/Leeds Festival.
