Sister Nancy

b. Nancy Russell, Kingston, Jamaica, Western Indies. Sister Nancy was among 15 siblings; her sibling Robert, recognized to her family members as Dickie, discovered popularity as Brigadier Jerry. The second option started chanting on Prince Norman’s audio system before settling with Jahlove Music. As the Brigadier’s status as the number 1 social DJ flourished, by her mid-teens, Nancy was sometimes performing within the audio system. Winston Riley was the 1st producer to consider Nancy in to the documenting studio room in 1980 on her behalf debut, ‘Papa Dean’. The tune was successful and Nancy’s profession started in earnest. She performed at Reggae Sunsplash, that was sent globally. A significant appearance on the Dee Jay Explosion noticed Nancy carrying out ‘Chalice A Fe Burn off’ and ‘Growth Shacka Lacka’. With Winston Riley in 1982 her debut One Two premiered, featuring the name monitor, ‘Aint No Preventing Nancy’, ‘Bam Bam’ and ‘Just Female DJ With Level’. She also documented a vintage rendition of ‘Ruler And Queen’ with Yellowman. With maker Henry ‘Junjo’ Lawes, she documented ‘A No Any Guy Can Check Sister Nancy’, ‘Bang Stomach’ and another Yellowman mixture, ‘Jah Mek Us Fe A Purpose’. She continuing appearing reside in the dancehall where she frequently performed alongside her sibling within the Jahlove Music AUDIO SYSTEM. The sound toured internationally to rave evaluations, including a famous program at Brixton City Hall, London, where both Jerry and Nancy produced their debut shows in the united kingdom.
