Silver Birch

Silver Birch released a rare limited-edition self-titled record of quite respectable Uk folk in 1974, influenced by famous brands Fairport Convention, the Strawbs, as well as the Little Custom, but wholly in the acoustic folk (instead of folk-rock) design. The six associates all sang and performed several instruments, including classical guitar, fiddle, harmonium, bells, recorder, and autoharp. The writing of lead vocal responsibilities by a number of different singers, aswell as the usage of male-female harmonies by several combinations from the associates (four of these male and two feminine), also provided the record a far more various sound than many such folk albums from the period. The group was produced by four schoolteachers in 1972, and acquired a rearranged six-person lineup by enough time Sterling silver Birch documented the LP in 1974. With further lineup adjustments, their sound transformed in the ensuing years, initial to accent the initial material of participant Len Morter, and (in the first ’80s) to focus on céilidh band function. Though they didn’t discharge more information, the band stayed active in to the 21st century.
