Silk Flowers

Forging a hallucinatory mixture of synths and deep, slurred vocals that appear to be Ian Curtis on coughing syrup, New York’s Silk Plants features vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Aviram Cohen and keyboardist Peter Schuette from Soiled Mattress & the Springs, and Ethan Swan of Car Clutch, Emergency, and Corpse Kisser. The music group created in 2008 and spent that fall touring with rings including Sightings, Tickley Feather, no Age, who authorized Silk Flowers with their label PPM. The “WITH THIS Place and Period” single found its way to early 2009, as well as the band’s self-titled debut recording — that was produced by Sunday Looks Great to Me/Town Center’s Fred Thomas — adopted that summer. By using MNDR’s Amanda Warner as maker, Silk Flowers proceeded to go inside a sleeker, slicker path for his or her second recording, 2011’s Ltd. Type.
