Sidney DeParis

A unique trumpeter who match both New Orleans jazz and golf swing configurations, Sidney DeParis was particularly professional with mutes. He caused Charlie Johnson’s Heaven Ten (1926-1931), Don Redman (1932-1936 and 1939), Zutty Singleton (1939-1941), Benny Carter (1940-41), and Artwork Hodes (1941) and documented on the famous Panassie periods (1938) with Jelly Move Morton (1939) and Sidney Bechet (1940). DeParis documented some highly exciting and freewheeling periods as a head in 1944 (for Commodore and Blue Be aware) as well as for Blue Be aware in 1951. He used his sibling Wilbur DeParis’ New New Orleans Jazz Music group through the entire 1950s before sick health compelled his pension in the 1960s.
