Biography
b. 14 June 1902, London, Britain, d. 23 Might 1973, Chertsey, Surrey, Britain. Deeply mixed up in music business from child years, Phillips performed clarinet in a variety of rings, including one led by his brothers, and in addition worked well in music posting as well as for record businesses. In the first 30s he was personnel arranger for the favorite music group led by Bert Ambrose and later on joined up with the music group. He also started leading his personal small group within the 30s, nonetheless it was the rings he led from 1949 onwards that constructed his status. Broadcasting regularly on the air, Phillips also documented, and his music group became among the best-known dixieland organizations in the united kingdom. At fine music artists he employed at once or another had been George Shearing, Kenny Ball and Tommy Whittle. A gutsy, full-toned clarinettist, Phillips was also a skilful arranger and made up jazz-orientated dance music and several traditional works. Adjustments in popular flavor meant that from your 60s onwards his music had not been in great demand, but he continuing operating until his loss of life in 1973.
