Austin, Tx shoegaze/fantasy pop group Should had been formed in the first ’90s by brothers Marc and Eric Ostermeier, and Tanya Maus. Originally called change (they switched if they discovered another band using the same name), the trio documented its hazy, dreamy play a unique style using electric guitar loops, samplers, and distortion produced from overloading a vintage four-track mixer. Their initial EP, A Folding Sieve, a six-song record released beneath the change moniker in the ND label, arrived in 1995 and was implemented in 1997 with the “Very own Two Foot” 7”, also on ND. Their second record, Feed Like Fishes, premiered in 1998 with the Minneapolis-based Phrases on Music label. The music group ceased recording following this, though Phrases on Music released a new edition of the Folding Sieve that added reward tracks composed of previously unreleased tracks and addresses of tracks by 18th Dye as well as the Jean Paul Sartre Knowledge. This year 2010 the music group resurfaced being a duo minus Eric Ostermeier and released a fresh album, Such as a Fireplace Without Sound, for Phrases on Music. Immediately after, A Folding Sieve was tapped to participate Captured Paths Shoegaze Archives series and was reissued in 2011 with yet another two bonus paths. The label also released a cassette, Resonate, that was a reissue of the cassette released by change on Whirlingpool Information in 1993.
