Shobaleader One can be an enigmatic, masked music group led by IDM tale Squarepusher (Tom Jenkinson). The group shaped in ’09 2009, and originally contains Jenkinson (bass/vocals) along with people only known as Strobe Nazard (keyboards), Sten t’Mech (electric guitar), Arg Nution (electric guitar), and Business Laser beam (drums). The band’s initial discharge was “Cryptic Movement,” a swinging electro-funk one which surprisingly came on French label Ed Banger in Sept of 2010, supported using a remix by Mr. Oizo. Per month afterwards, Squarepusher’s usual house, Warp, released Shobaleader One’s debut full-length d’Demonstrator. Definately not the manic, jazzy drill’n’bass Squarepusher is normally known for, the record contains ’80s R&B-influenced robotic rock and roll songs, which highlighted Jenkinson’s talkbox-filtered performing. The group was placed on keep for a couple of years as Jenkinson resumed his single career, however they started playing shows once again in 2016 (minus Sten t’Mech). The next season, Warp released Elektrac, a live record of Shobaleader One’s full-band renditions of compositions from through the entire Squarepusher back again catalog, which range from his first EPs to d’Demonstrator.
