Shoba Nataranjan

The first Kuchipudi dancer to tour the former Soviet Union, Shoba Nataranjan has continued to astonish the world with her imaginative dance. Chicago paper the Naperville Sunlight stated that “the elegance and symmetry from the geometric numbers she makes over the stage are charming, as well as the fluidity of her hands gestures is fascinating.” The Georgia (USSR) Instances known as her “a genuine child of her country,” and described that “the music and dance of her nation are in her bloodstream, so in retrospect the vocabulary of her dance is indeed striking and amazing.” Nataranjan continues to be dancing the majority of her existence. Starting Bharatanatyam teaching at age five, she produced her stage debut 3 years later on. Before she reached her teenagers, she had started learning Kuchipudi dance with Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam. She consequently performed the lead part in a number of of Dr. Satyam’s ballets, planing a trip to america to execute with Dr. Satyam’s troupe in 1984. She spent many years learning with vocalist and dance instructor Kalaimamani Swamimalai Rajaratnam, and analyzed carnatic music with Sangeetha Kalinidhi, B. Rajam Iyer, and Dr. S.R. Janakiraman. A co-founder from the Nrityaranga Dance Cooperative, Nataranjan founded and aimed Samskriti Basis, a Chicago-based non-profit organization specialized in the advertising of Indian tradition, dance, and music. She received the game titles Sangita Ratna (on completing advanced teaching in the Music Academy University of Music) in 1989, Yuva Kala Bharati (from Bharat Kalachar) in 1992, and Natanamamani (from Kathik Good Arts) in 1994. Nataranjan offers continued to talk about her like of dance with audiences all over the world. She performed like a soloist and trained a month-long rigorous workshop at a Hindu Temple in Flushing, NY, in 1986, and spent six weeks touring the previous Soviet Union the next yr. In 1992, she was the business lead dancer in the International Dance Alliance’s Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum tour of THE UNITED STATES.
