Sherman Lawson

Western Virginia fiddler Sherman Lawson is chiefly referred to as the just musician to ever record using the white nation blues guitarist Frank Hutchison. Lawson grew up in Western world Virginia where acquired one uncle who performed a chopping thumb-and-finger banjo design, and another who produced him a gourd fiddle, which Lawson began to play when he was about 11 years of age. Within a 1964 interview with Mike Seeger, Lawson recalled the fact that first melody he learned to try out was “EXACTLY WHAT WILL We Do Using the Baby-O?” He became a carpenter when he got old, got wedded, and continuing playing his fiddle at rectangular dances, very much to his brand-new wife’s chagrin.
