As well as guitarist and vocalist Justo Osala Omufila and Fanta container percussionist Enos Okola, Shem Tube introduced the original music of Kenya towards the international stage. Performing mainly because Abana Ba Nasery (the Nursery Young boys) through the ’60s and ’70s, Pipe helped to popularize luhya omitubo, a method of music designated by rhythms supplied by two guitars and a soda pop container and three-part vocal harmonies. Although Pipe and Omufila shaped a power benga music group, Les Bunyore, in the ’80s, they became a member of with Okola to re-form Abana Ba Nasery in 1991. They documented their first recording in greater than a 10 years, JUST DO IT, in Britain with accompaniment by English folk musicians.
