Sergio Vega

Past Quicksand bassist Sergio Vega released his 1st single EP, entitled The Ray Martin Periods, through then NY indie grapeOS, a label which has since relocated to California. Abandoning the aggressive steel and post-hardcore of his achieved past, Vega’s single work is similar to singer/songwriters such as for example Elliott Smith. Though its discharge was talked about on MTVNews.com, the EP (which also features efforts from ex-Helmet guitarist Chris Traynor) had not been exactly well-received nor widely distributed. HOWEVER THE Ray Martin Periods (so called for the brand new York City manufacturer who done the music with Vega and who also collaborated on tasks with Into Another and grapeOS alumni New Increasing Sons) did sufficiently for Vega to tour the U.S. and U.K. He was supported on those travels by upcoming New End Primary associates Scott Winegard and Charlie Walker, aswell as previous Orange 9mm/Helmet guitarist Chris Traynor, who also shows up over the EP. With Quicksand, Vega documented an EP for Revelation and two major-label full-length albums prior to the group disbanded. Quickly soon after, he sat along with the Deftones on the tour. Once back in NY along with his wife and little girl, he started focusing on his very own songs. It had been Burn off/Orange 9mm vocalist Chaka Malik who inspired Vega release a those music as The Ray Martin Periods EP. The EP also highlighted efforts from Charlie Garriga (Civ, Outface) and Jimmy Williams (Optimum Penalty).
