Senking

Senking may be the main alias of Jens Massel, a Cologne local who makes dubby, abstract IDM and minimal techno minus the use of a pc. After spending the first ’90s playing bass in a variety of indie rock organizations, Massel obtained a primitive synthesizer and started to create slim experimental techno in 1995. Within 2 yrs, he released his 1st 12”, an EP entitled Senking, as Kandis. The EP was also the very first release within the Karaoke Kalk label. Furthermore to his participation with post-rock group Genf and ambient trio Visor, Massel continuing to issue single tracks beneath the Kandis moniker, and in 1998 he initiated Fumble as well as the even more prolific Senking as alternative aliases. Every year from 1998 through 2003 presented a minumum of one Senking disk. Karaoke Kalk released most of them, like the albums Senking (1998), Ping Thaw (2001), and Silencer (also 2001), while Raster-Noton wanted him for his or her 20’ to 2000 series (1999) and continuing the alliance with Trial (2000), Forge (2002), and Touch (2003). For a couple years, Massel remaining Senking dormant, as he released a one-off LP on Karaoke Kalk within the duo Poto & Cabengo, but he resumed the name for the 2007 Raster-Noton recording List. This is adopted this year 2010 by Pong, that was inspired from the early-‘70s arcade video game of the same name. Third , recording, he released two dubstep-leaning singles, 2011’s Tweek and 2012’s Dazed. These preceded his 2013 full-length Capsize Recovery, that was adopted in 2014 by way of a digital single known as Ocean Level. Senking’s recording Closing Ice premiered in 2015.
