Biography
Sekou Sundiata was among New York’s most intelligent and gifted poets from the African-American awareness. A indigenous of Harlem who trained English books at the brand new School for Sociable Study, Sundiata became a significant performer in his personal right aswell, generally leading a music group on frequent golf club dates similar to June Jordan, Amiri Baraka (Leroi Jones), and Quincy Troupe. Sundiata started composing for the musical theatre, and premiered The Secret of Like in 1994, with songwriting help from Doug Booth. The duo also teamed through to Sundiata’s debut recording, The Blue Oneness of Dreams, with Booth adding both tunes and his soulful vocals towards the task. The album premiered on Polygram in 1997; AN EXTENDED Story Short adopted in early 2000. The next year he became a member of Ani DiFranco on her behalf “Tempo and Information” tour, even while carrying on his professorship within the composing program at the brand new School. Unfortunately, in July 2007 Sundiata passed on due to center failure.
