Seeger, Petersen + Marsalis

The adventurous New Orleans trio Seeger, Petersen + Marsalis (SP+M) came collectively on rare occasions to explore their respective improvisation abilities. The trio arrived collectively on two events nearly a 12 months apart to total Finger towards the Universe, its debut record, and didn’t rehearse within this format prior to the periods, preferring rather to explore whatever improvisational outcomes came about. Following discharge of Finger towards the World, SP+M performed at the brand new Orleans Jazz and Heritage Celebration and various area locations. Guitarist Brian Seeger earned very much acclaim in New Orleans for his function — both executing and documenting — with countless jazz performers, including Stanton Moore, Aaron Neville, Rebecca Parris, Quintology, Loren Pickford, Zachary Richard, and so many more. Saxophonist Ed Petersen, significantly known for his tenure on the College or university of New Orleans, likewise has documented with many esteemed jazz performers — Kurt Elling, Ruth Dark brown, Von Freeman, Clark Terry, Ron Carter — and provides performed with a lot more: Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Lionel Hampton, Benny Goodman, J.J. Drummer/percussionist Jason Marsalis isn’t quite as achieved as his experienced bandmates but can be increasing his popularity with each transferring season: he’s an associate from the Marcus Roberts Trio, spent some time working extensively along with his family — dad Ellis Marsalis, sibling Delfeayo Marsalis — and provides released single albums of his very own.
