Secret Ties

Best known because of its 1986 membership favorite “Dancin’ in my own Sleep,” Key Ties was a San Diego-based group that favored a Latin-flavored method of dance-pop. Top secret Ties, that was produced by manufacturer/songwriter/keyboardist Brian Soares in 1985, tended to fare well among youthful Latinos who had been into Latin freestyle performers like Exposé, Special Sensation, TKA, as well as the Cover Young ladies. But Key Ties’ dance-pop wasn’t actually freestyle, and it didn’t appear to be some of those East Coastline residents. Soares valued Afro-Cuban salsa, but unlike Nayobe or Sandee, he was intensely inspired by Brazilian music. Top secret Ties, whose several feminine vocalists included Linda Harmon, Cheryl Ford, and Christina Veronica, agreed upon with the tiny, Los Angeles-based Evening Influx label in 1986. That calendar year, Night Influx released the group’s initial one, “Dancin’ in my own Rest,” which became a significant membership strike and received a whole lot of airplay on channels which were friendly to dance-pop. And the next year, Night Influx put out Top secret Ties’ debut record, All Through the night time. Furthermore to co-producing the record, Soares wrote a lot of the music, including “Dancin’ in my own Sleep” as well as the follow-up one “One Evening.” Key Ties, it proved, didn’t have very much durability — in 1988, the group split up.
