Second Layer was an electronic-based outlet for the Sound’s Adrian Borland and Graham Bailey. Borland provided guitars and vocals while Bailey offered keyboards, bass, and drum development. The full size World of Plastic was released in 1981, accompanied by two singles and an EP released the same 12 months: “Condition of Crisis,” “Flesh as House,” and Second Coating. Because the duo was central towards the Sound’s audio, their side task retained a few of that experience, albeit within a somewhat detached style that’s to be likely when synths and drum devices replace more individual components. Borland’s songwriting wasn’t significantly less personal right here than his composing for the Audio.
