Scrugg

Scrugg released 3 Uk singles on Pye in the later 1960s, highlighted by their initial 45, “Everyone CAN EASILY SEE”/”I Wish I USED TO BE Five.” We were holding very well melodic psychedelic pop with penetrating body organ work not really unlike which used by Green Floyd on the early records, especially on “I Desire I USED TO BE Five,” which, years afterwards, was included on the Nuggets, Vol 2: First Artyfacts box group of ’60s non-U.S. garage area rock and roll and psychedelia. The ultimate two Scrugg singles had been more within the florid storybook sing-song pop-style widespread in Britain in the past due 1960s, and much less exclusive. Before changing their name to Scrugg, the group have been referred to as Floribunda Rose, who do an individual for Pye in 1967. Both groupings were focused around vocalist/songwriter John Kongos, who acquired a long profession as a documenting musician in South Africa in the 1960s before shifting to Britain to record an individual for Piccadilly in 1966, ahead of developing Floribunda Rose. After Scrugg split up, Kongos proceeded to go solo, obtaining two British Best Five strikes in the first 1970s, with “He’s Gonna Stage on You Once again” and “Tokoloshe Guy.” All six music in the Scrugg singles, along with the Scrugg outtake “Patriotic,” are on the John Kongos anthology Lavender Snacks. That CD also contains both edges of Kongos’ 1966 Piccadilly one, both sides from the Floribunda Rose one, the entirety of Kongos’ 1969 LP Confusions In regards to a Goldfish, and some unreleased Kongos single songs in the same era.
