Scots Pirates

Scots Pirates were a reunion band of sorts of a few of the most well known alumni from the ’60s Michigan rock and roll picture, particularly guitarist/vocalist Scott Morgan (the Rationals) and drummer Scott Asheton (the Stooges). The music group also included bassist Gary Rasmussen, who, with Morgan, Asheton, as well as the past due Fred “Sonic” Smith, performed in Sonic’s Rendezvous Music group. With various other musicians filling in the lineup, Scots Pirates documented three albums, you start with 1989’s Rock and roll Action. Groundbreaking Means (1995) was their last work, and discovers them playing hard rock and roll with soul affects, in a way in keeping with the ethos set up by the Stooges, MC5, and Sonic’s Rendezvous Music group.
