Sassafrass

b. Michael Johnson, c.1963, Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies. Ahead of his profession in music Sassafras was utilized at the operating stables on the Caymans Recreation area racecourse in Jamaica. A normal visitor towards the training course was the entrepreneurial Jack port Scorpio who constructed his own well-known audio system in the first 70s and ventured into record creation within the 80s. His initial creation was Sassafras executing ‘Pocomania Leap’, a mention of the religious lifestyle which has survived in Jamaica because the times of slavery. By 1989 he documented in conjunction with Barrington Levy, a edition of Toots AS WELL AS THE Maytals’ ‘Pomps And Satisfaction’ as ‘Stage Up In Lifestyle’. The tune was made by Sassafras and Jah Screw.
