Sarah Nixey

Arch, elegant Uk pop vocalist and songwriter Sarah Nixey is most beneficial referred to as the icy-voiced chanteuse of Dark Container Recorder, a trio whose mix of melodic sweetness, bleakly cynical public commentary, and electronic pop eclecticism brought them a cult market and some quantity of (Uk) chart achievement around the convert from the millennium. Nixey was performing in the folk music group Balloon when her bandmates Luke Haines (previously from the Auteurs) and John Moore (previously from the Jesus and Mary String) suggested that she sign up for them as the vocalist for a fresh pop project that they had conceived, appealing that it could make her well-known. Dark Box Recorder continued release a three albums and a B-sides compilation between 1998 and 2003, and thereafter continued hiatus without officially splitting up, although Nixey and Moore, who acquired wedded in 2001 prior to the discharge of the 3rd album, and got a daughter jointly, divorced in 2006. (All three people of the group resurfaced in holidays of 2007 to get a one-of collaboration one with people of Artwork Brut, “Xmas NUMBER 1,” that was credited towards the Dark Arts.) Also in 2006, Nixey surfaced being a single artist using the singles “Strangelove” and “The Collector,” that she collaborated with another ex-member from the Auteurs, manufacturer/programmer/writer Adam Banbury. Throughout her tenure using the music group, Nixey got served firmly as the vocalist for Haines’ and Moore’s compositions and sardonic lyrics (a disconnect performed up when she intoned “that is Sarah Nixey speaking” on Passionoia’s “Andrew Ridgely”), but also for her single debut, 2007’s dance-pop focused Sing, Storage, released on Banbury’s ServiceAV label — which opened up using the same spoken message — she had written the melodies and notably even more psychologically empathetic lyrics for all those but two from the songs, one of these a cover of the first Human League track “The Dark Strike of Space.” Nixey also added vocals for Banbury’s abstract digital task InfantJoy and Luke Haines’ 2006 recording Off My Rocker in the Art College Bop.
