Sarah McLawler

Blessed in Louisville, Kentucky, Hammond B-3 organist Sarah McLawler grew up in the cathedral with gospel music. She examined body organ at an Indiana Conservatory. Inspired heavily with the music from the big rings, McLawler utilized to sneak into night clubs in Indianapolis to listen to Lucky Millinder’s big music group. She finished up going on the highway using the bandleader, and later on created an ahead-of-its-time all-woman music group, the Syn-Co-Ettes. They spent a while as a residence music group at Chicago’s Savoy Golf club. After conference Richard Otto, a traditional violinist who loved to try out jazz, at a residency at a Brooklyn golf club, she wedded him and both spent years touring and documenting together.
