The brainchild of former Botticellis founding member Alexi Glickman, Sandy’s took its name from his post-surfing habit of tracking items of the beach into friends’ cars and provides breezy psych pop a twist with open-tuned guitars. Together with his amount of time in the Botticellis — whose 2008 record Old Home Films earned acclaim because of its warm, elaborate indie pop — Glickman also used Small Wings before developing Sandy’s being a single task in 2012. Ultimately, Sandy’s grew to add his previous Botticellis bandmate Burton Li on electric guitar, Sonny & the Sunsets’ Nick Aives on bass, and Apollo Sunshine’s Jeremy Dark on drums. The music group documented its debut record at Glickman’s and Black’s particular studios, enlisting help from people of Rustangs, Vetiver, and Tortured Genies; the outcomes, Fourth Dementia, found its way to June 2014 via Um Yeah Arts.
