Sanctuary

Getting the tail-end from the first wave from the 1980’s American thrash scene, Sanctuary arrived up alongside steel heavyweights Anthrax, Metallica, Testament, and Megadeth, the second option of whom helped get the Seattle-based group an archive offer. Founded in 1985 by vocalist Warrel Dane, guitarists Lenny Rutledge and Sean Blosl, bassist Jim Sheppard, and drummer Dave Budbil, the group’s 1988 debut recording for Epic, Refuge Refused, was made by Megadeth guitarist Dave Mustaine. The next year noticed the departure of Blosl as well as the introduction of fresh guitarist Jeff Loomis. Sanctuary’s sophomore outing, 1990’s In to the Reflection Dark, was well-received, but inner conflicts caused by pressure from Epic to adjust to the burgeoning grunge picture, eventually resulted in the group’s demise in 1992 — Warrel Dane, Jim Sheppard, and Jeff Loomis would continue to find achievement using the group Nevermore. This year 2010, the founding users of Sanctuary re-formed for a small number of live shows, and in 2014, they released their long-awaited third studio room long-player, THE ENTIRE YEAR the Sun Passed away (their 1st in 24 years) via Hundred years Media Information. 2017 saw the discharge of Inception, which presented remixed and remastered dropped studio room recordings from 1986.
