Sam Noto

A fantastic bop soloist, Sam Noto’s later-’70s recordings for Xanadu briefly gave him a higher profile in the U.S. Best-known in his start being a big music group participant, Noto was with Stan Kenton (1955-1958), Louie Bellson (1959), back again with Kenton (1960), and double with Count number Basie during 1964-1967. He spent a lot of 1969-1975 employed in NEVADA where he became familiar with Crimson Rodney. Rodney utilized Noto on the 1974 saving and, although he shifted to Toronto in 1975 (where he proved helpful in the studios and frequently with Rob McConnell’s Employer Brass in to the early ’80s), Noto obtained some popularity for his many recordings with Xanadu. Although showing up on records much less often from then on, Sam Noto continues to be quite energetic in Toronto.
