Sam D’Angelo

Sam D’Angelo led the ’80s indie rock-band Sister Ray until its 1990 separation, before returning years later on in 2002 like a single artist. Located in Youngstown, OH, D’Angelo founded Sister Ray in 1985 alongside his sibling Joe. The garage area punk music group released several records, including an individual for Sub Pop, and eventually split up in 1990. Through the ’90s, D’Angelo gained a degree and led a nine-to-five way of life. Around 2001, he made a decision to start writing songs once again. He started in his cellar, aiming toward honest and personal songwriting rather than particular design or sound, and concluded with Nothing at all Left But Wish, his debut single recording he released by himself Sad Information in 2002. Powered largely by classical guitar, D’Angelo’s single work noises unlike his previously use Sister Ray, reflecting his development.
