Biography

Pianist/keyboardist Sam Barsh was created Might 18, 1981, in Chicago, IL. His parents weren’t musicians, however they open him to recordings from the Beatles, Adam Taylor, Jewish music, and oldies while on family members car excursions. He began playing piano at age group four, and had taken schoolwork with the Romona Elementary College and Junior Saturated in Wilmette and the brand new Trier Township SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL in Winnetka. His early favorites had been Billy Joel, Duke Ellington, De La Spirit, Count number Basie, and Oscar Peterson. During his early years he was mentored by Alan Swain, Frank Portolese, Mike Kocour, and Eric Baumgartner, while growing his key pad horizons towards the body organ, synthesizers, classic keyboards, and melodica. Barsh after that transferred to metro NEW YORK in 1999 to wait William Paterson University’s jazz research program on the full-tuition presidential scholarship or grant, graduating magna cum laude in 2003. Located in NEW YORK since 2001, the keyboardist spent some time working alongside Zach Brock, Cassandra Wilson, Jeff Parker, Boyz II Guys, Bobby McFerrin, the newest Heavies, Robin Eubanks, Debbie Friedman, Branford Marsalis, Lonnie Plaxico, Christophe Schweizer, Dave Samuels, Frank Lacy, the Mighty Blue Kings, Omar Edwards, Mino Cinelu, Rez Abbasi, Kenny Wollesen, Curtis W, Nguyên Lê, Ben Monder, Hans Glawischnig, and Todd Carey. His most successful function and acclaimed credit being a sideman was as an associate of bassist Avishai Cohen’s trio from 2003-2006, documenting three CDs along with a live Dvd movie, and executing concerts worldwide. Developing his very own group, Barsh provides documented another two CDs playing more sophisticated jazz-funk. He proceeds his association with violinist Zach Brock & the Espresso Achievers, with whom he provides toured and produced two CDs along with a live Compact disc/Dvd movie, and in addition has collaborated with Detroit region jazz vocalist Jesse Palter. A clinician of be aware, he has executed workshops at Yale School; the School of Wisconsin-Oshkosh; the School of Capetown-South Africa; Knox University in Galesburg, IL; LaGuardia Community University in Queens, NY; the School Preparatory Academy in Detroit, MI; the Drum Collective in NEW YORK; as well as the Theodore Roosevelt Academy within the Bronx; in addition to public and personal high schools through the entire United States.
