Safa

Blending a variety of music traditions together, from Asian pop to Latin percussion to American improvisational jazz, Safa is normally a distinctive and distinctive trio that uses its associates’ various heritages to its benefit. Tehran-born Amir Koushkani contributes vocals, setar, and tar towards the music group and has already established a successful profession beyond the group. Canadian Francois Houle brings jazz knowledge towards the fray along with his extreme clarinet playing, as the Puerto Rican blessed Sal Ferreras presents countless percussion equipment and an understanding of avant garde jazz and Latin-American folk. Jointly, they make a heady mixture of organised improvisation and moody soundscapes which are hard to evaluate to anything. Their debut record, Alight, made an appearance in the summertime of 2002.
