Self-described “super nerd” rapper and producer Saba (Tahj Malik Chandler) was raised on the Western Side of Chicago, specifically inside the Austin neighborhood, within a deeply musical family. That’s also where he shaped Pivot Gang, several longtime associates which has featured, amongst others, his sibling Jerrel (aka Joseph Chilliams), cousin John Walt, Logan Yutters (aka MFn Melo), Frsh Waters, and DJ Damnage. Saba himself offers recorded many mixtapes — his 1st were released while he was an introverted high schooler — and obtained grip with ComfortZone, a 2014 launch influenced by his father’s neo-soul recordings that capitalized on his efforts to awareness-raising paths by fellow Chicagoans Opportunity the Rapper and Mick Jenkins. In 2015, Saba made an appearance as featured designer on several slashes, including Chance’s “Angels,” Jenkins’ “Slumber,” and Odd Couple’s “What Kings Perform.” Additionally, he released the reflective Tink cooperation “Short lived,” one of is own most commercial tracks to day.
