Biography
Being a soloist, Rusty (Russell) Kershaw has yet to complement the success that he previously in the first ’60s when he shared a duo with older sibling, Doug Kershaw. His albums, nevertheless, have already been well-conceived samplings of Cajun two-steps and nation ballads, and also have highlighted accompaniment by top-notch music artists. While Cajun in Blues Nation, released in 1970, highlighted Charlie Daniels on fiddle, Today & After that, released in 1992, was a tour de power featuring Artwork Neville from the Neville Brothers on piano and Ben Keith on dobro, flute, piano, pedal metal, and history vocals. Introduced to Cajun and nation music by his multi-instrumentalist sibling, Kershaw was just ten when he started executing with Doug and Peewee within the Continental Playboys. The enthusiastic response the fact that group received helped to ease the pain he had sensed since their dad, an alligator hunter, dedicated suicide five years before. Following departure of Peewee in the first ’50s, Rusty and Doug continuing to play jointly being a duo. Their debut one, “Therefore Lovely, Baby,” became a high Five nation strike in August 1955. Shortly afterward, both brothers were asked to become ensemble members from the Louisiana Hayride, a favorite nation music radio present broadcast from Shrevesport. In 1957, they truly became members from the Grand Ole Opry. Concurrently enlisting within the U.S. Military, in 1958, the Kershaws committed their focus on the armed forces for another 3 years. Discharged in 1961, the brothers shortly recorded their ideal hit, “Louisiana Guy,” an autobiographical tune compiled by Doug. Their follow-up one, “Diggy Diggy Lo,” was almost as effective. Although they released their debut record, Rusty and Doug, in July 1964, Rusty and Doug acquired already eliminated their separate methods. While Doug continued to be an internationally-known superstar, Rusty offers maintained a very much lower-key presence.
