Rusty Dedrick

b. Lyle F. Dedrick, 7 Dec 1918, Delevan, NY, USA. Dedrick finished teacher schooling at Fredonia (NY) University before studying structure with Paul Geston and Stefan Wolpe. He began his professional profession being a trumpeter in the music group of Dick Stabile before shifting to Crimson Norvo, Claude Thornhill and Ray McKinley. He proved helpful through the entire 50s and 60s being a trumpet participant and arranger for NBC Tv and in NY studios. In 1971 he became a member of the faculty from the Manhattan University of Music, where he afterwards became movie director of jazz research. He has and writes in a normal swing style.
