Russell Malone

An adept jazz guitarist having a clean assault and liquid, lyrical design, Russell Malone frequently plays inside a swinging, straight-ahead design weaving in components of blues, gospel, and R&B. Created in Albany, Georgia in 1963, Malone 1st began playing acoustic guitar around age group four on the toy device, quickly graduating to genuine. Mainly self-taught, he in the beginning drew inspiration hearing the recordings of gospel and blues performers like the Dixie Hummingbirds and B.B. Ruler. However, after viewing George Benson perform with Benny Goodman on the tv program, Malone was addicted to jazz and started intently learning albums by famous guitarists like Charlie Christian and Wes Montgomery. By his twenties, Malone was an achieved performer, and in 1988 became a member of organist Jimmy Smith’s music group. Immediately after, he also joined up with Harry Connick, Jr.’s big music group, showing up on Connick’s 1991 work, Blue Light, Crimson Light. Along with his developing reputation being a sideman, Malone following caught the interest of pianist/vocalist Diana Krall, with whom he’d work throughout a lot of the ’90s and 2000s. Also during this time period, Malone made an appearance using a bevy of name performers including Branford Marsalis, Benny Green, Terell Stafford, Ray Dark brown, and others. Being a single artist, Malone produced his debut with 1992’s Russell Malone, implemented a year afterwards by Dark Butterfly. In 1999, he released Special Georgia Peach, which highlighted a visitor appearance from pianist Kenny Barron. Malone kicked from the 2000s with many albums on Verve, including 2000’s Appear Who’s Right here and 2001’s orchestral jazz-themed Heartstrings. Then transferred to Maxjazz for 2004’s Playground, having a visitor appearance from saxophonist Gary Bartz, accompanied by 2010’s Triple Play. More than the next many years, Malone made an appearance on albums by Wynton Marsalis, Christian McBride, and Ron Carter, aswell as Krall bandmate bassist Ben Wolfe. In 2015, he came back to single use the eclectic small-group record Love Looks Great on You, implemented in 2016 by ABOUT Melody, both on HighNote.
