Biography
Trumpeter/multi-instrumentalist Russell Gunn was created and raised in Illinois; weaned on rap, he considered jazz in his professional pursuits, although hip-hop continued to be a primary impact on his function. First attracting the eye of critics and viewers through his efforts to Wynton Marsalis’ Bloodstream on the Areas, Gunn also supported famous brands Jimmy Heath, Roy Hargrove, Adam Moody, and R&B hitmaker Maxwell, showing up in the latter’s MTV Unplugged program. After a couple of indie releases, he agreed upon to Atlantic to concern the single Ethnomusicology, Vol. 1 in early 1999. That record was nominated for the Grammy in 2000. Smokingunn implemented a year afterwards and, in 2001, Gunn explored even more of the same designs as the initial level of Ethnomusicology with Ethnomusicology, Vol. 2. After that, Gunn provides released two even more amounts in his “Ethnomusicology” series, including Ethnomusicology, Vol. 3 and Ethnomusicology, Vol. 4: Reside in Atlanta. In 2007, the trumpeter paid homage to fellow St. Louis, IL, indigenous and trumpet icon Mls Davis with Russell Gunn Has Miles.
