Biography

Russ Morgan was a significant arranger and composer within the pre-rock period. He performed in NY groups through the early ’20s and do agreements for Victor Herbert and John Philip Sousa. He was a music movie director on radio in Detroit in 1926, carrying out agreements for Fletcher Henderson, Chick Webb, Louis Armstrong, the Boswell Sisters, as well as the Dorsey Brothers. Afterwards, Morgan wrote Natural cotton Club reviews, executed an orchestra on Broadway, and offered as music movie director for Brunswick. He used Freddy Martin in 1934 and produced his own music group in 1936. Through the past due ’30s, ’40s, and ’50s, he led an exceptionally effective orchestra. The music were basic, coy, and frequently embarrassingly contrived, but radio viewers enjoyed them. Morgan presented the Ames Brothers performing group in 1949. The arriving of rock and roll & roll finished Morgan’s reign, but he held carrying out concerts and displays in NEVADA through the ’50s and ’60s. His kid Jack held the band entering the middle-’80s.
