Rudolf Komorous

Since his immigration to Canada in 1969, Komorous has already established a decisive influence on young composers in the country’s west coast. He examined structure with Pavel Borkovec in Prague through the 1950s, also excelling being a bassoon participant. His playing gained him first award on the Concours International d’Exécution Musicale in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1957. During 1959 – 1961 he trained chamber music and bassoon at Beijing’s Central Conservatory in China. Upon time for Czechoslovakia in 1961, he became co-founder of Musica Viva Pragensis, an organization that customized in the interpretation of songs. Since his pupil days, he previously been an associate of the interdisciplinary, avant-garde picture known as the ? midra group. Intensely inspired by painters, French surrealism and American abstract expressionism, Komorous and several of his college students created functions of distinctly strange atmospheres — unknowable, wealthy, and persuasive. These qualities originated from his fascination for “the bizarre and the beautiful” in artwork. Komorous remained using the ? midrové group until he relocated to Canada. There he started teaching composition in the University or college of Victoria in English Columbia, where he started producing college students of great quality, leading to Eastern Canadian composers to make reference to their country’s avant-garde picture as “The Victoria Mafia.” Komorous’ conditioning of his used land’s musical picture has been adored and praised. His music varies broadly, which range from a relatively assonant, traditional Serenade for Strings (1982) to the beautiful avant-garde chamber function York (1967).
