Rubin Lacey

b. 2 January 1901, Pelahatchie, Mississippi, USA, d. c.1972, Bakersfield, California, USA. Learning acoustic guitar and mandolin from your unrecorded George Hendrix as a man, Lacey relocated to Jackson, where he added towards the musical suggestions of Tommy Johnson and Ishman Bracey. In 1927, he documented a solitary, but exceptional 78 rpm record. Lacey’s secular profession finished when he became a preacher in 1932, however when rediscovered in 1966 he was a mine of information regarding both his blues and his preaching professions, and became the principle subject matter of Alfred Rosenberg’s publication The Artwork Of The American Folk Preacher.
