Rubber O Cement

Rubber O Concrete was a spin-off of Bay Region avant-gardists Caroliner (aka Caroliner Rainbow), whose severely warped Americana bore a faint resemblance towards the severely warped electronic sound of its offspring. Normally a trio led by enigmatic Caroliner frontman Grux (who founded the group during Caroliner’s past due-’90s hiatus), Plastic O Concrete was most mentioned because of its surreal stage displays, where the bandmembers utilized cardboard, foam, and tin foil to decorate as robots and monsters, and cavorted across the stage before a big cardboard computer. Arranged from this backdrop, their similarly oddball music relied chiefly on classic analog synths, low-budget results, and skronky sound guitar. Plastic O Cement distributed Caroliner’s penchant for found-object product packaging; their debut album, 2002’s BROADBAND Electronic Cardboard, premiered in a restricted edition from the Toyo label and packed within an envelope stuffed inside different specific problems of Clive Barker’s Hellraiser comic book. The group also cut a break up launch with Panicsville, and released many CD-ROM recordings (once again in tandem with comic books), included in this Thylakoid Hubcaps N’ Chloroblast! and Heated Manifestation from the Crawlycule.
