After spending sometime being apart in the Christian death steel scene, Emil Nikolaisen took his guitar and shifted from playing in Extol to something just a little poppier. Therefore upon recruiting his sister Elvira as the vocalist, Remi Christiansen (guitars) Tommy Akerholdt (drums) and Oystein Aase (bass) became a member of the ranks to create Royal in 1996. Using their design indie-noise and pop totally contradicting their encircling black metal picture of Sweden, Soulscape Information enjoyed what they noticed and released their debut “My Dear” in 1998. That same calendar year, it was certified through Teeth and Nail Information for a USA Distribution.
