Biography
Within the decades since its founding, the Scottish National Orchestra has earned a reputation like a distinguished ensemble with a thorough concert schedule, wide-ranging repertoire, and a substantial representation on recordings. The SNO may be the immediate descendant from the Scottish Orchestra, founded in Glasgow in 1890; using the establishment from the Scottish Country wide Orchestra Culture in 1950 with monies from Glasgow, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, and Dundee, the SNO became a long term ensemble. Throughout its 1st 40 years, the Scottish Orchestra got no permanent primary conductor, instead counting on some eminent visitor conductors.
