Roy Palmer

Roy Palmer had a raspy firmness yet a liquid style around the trombone which he played quite percussively (reminiscent however, not derivative of Child Ory). No real matter what the establishing, Palmer’s playing added enjoyment, pleasure and musicality to the problem yet he’s largely overlooked today except by 1920’s enthusiasts. Palmer began like a guitarist (playing in Roseal’s Orchestra as soon as 1906), turned to trumpet and finally trombone. An early on member of the brand new Orleans jazz picture, Palmer used Richard M. Johnes, Willie Hightower and several other organizations. In 1917 he relocated to Chicago where he caused Lawrence Duhe’s music group. When Ruler Oliver became the band’s innovator, Palmer departed. In the 1920’s he used a number of now-forgotten rings including those led by Tig Chambers, Doc Watson and Hughie Smith. Palmer do have possibilities to record with Jelly Move Morton (1924), Johnny Dodds (1927) and Richard M.
