Roy Newman & His Boys

b. 12 November 1899, Santa Anna, Tx, USA, d. 23 Feb 1981, Dallas, Tx, USA. There is nothing known today of Newman’s youth or of his teenage years but he was raised to become among the pioneers of traditional western golf swing music. By his mid-twenties, he performed piano, piano accordion and electric guitar and proved helpful as an employee musician at WRR Dallas. In 1926, aside from his studio room duties, he begun to play piano as you half from the Secret Duo, with John Thorvald (electric guitar). In 1931, he performed guitar within a quartet referred to as the Wanderers, where he became connected with guitarist Jim Boyd. The group transferred to WFAA in 1932, but Newman and Boyd with different music artists came back to WRR, as Roy Newman And His Guys, the following season. Also at WRR in those days was Costs Boyd, who performed and documented with music artists referred to as the Cowboy Ramblers. The truth is, a number of the music artists who performed and documented with Newman also performed on Boyd’s recordings, but each music group managed a person audio and both performed on WRR’s popularNoon Hour Types. Newman And His Guys (who occasionally numbered 10 music artists) documented 72 edges between 1934 and 1939, and set up a considerable popularity through their broadcasts and performances in the Dallas and Fort Value areas. Although hardly ever afforded the promotion obtained by Bob Wills or Milton Dark brown, Newman, who most likely played even more jazz than his contemporaries, performed his component in popularizing traditional western golf swing music, before he disbanded in 1940.
