In fact a country and rock vocalist instead of an R&B star, Roy Mind nevertheless cut among the great bits of uptempo soul in the mid-’60s. “Deal with Her Best” on Back again Beat managed to get to number 2 in the R&B graphs and number 2 pop, and the actual fact that Mind was white was soft-pedaled in R&B circles as the tune made its method up the graphs.
