Roupe is Rupert Brewer, a London-based manufacturer whose fusions of techno, jazz, funk, electro, ambient, and electronic experimentation have earned him evaluations to such innovators of “intelligent techno” because the Dark Pet dog, Tony Thorpe, Richard H. Kirk, and Beaumont Hannant. Brewer released two full-lengths — one, Strom, on GPR sublabel Neuron Musique; another, the fundamental Entelechy, on Reference — before putting your signature on with Swedish upstart label Dot in 1997. A Roupe remix was highlighted in the self-titled debut EP by Dot musician Quant, and Brewer’s initial one for the label, “Transportation Solutions,” made an appearance in December.
