Rosie Ledet

Accordionist, vocalist and songwriter Mary Roszela Bellard, “Rosie” Ledet (pronounced led-dett), grew up on rock and roll & move music. During her teenage years in southwest Louisiana, she paid attention to traditional rock & move r / c in close by Eunice; her favorite organizations included Santana and Z.Z. Best. Like so a great many other French children elevated in rural southwest Louisiana, she paid no particular focus on all of the zydeco music which was around her in her formative years; despite the fact that her parents experienced tried to improve her with a wholesome respect for zydeco music, the music kept little appeal on her behalf as a youngster. But 1 day, after going to a zydeco dance when she was 16, hearing Boozoo Chavis, and achieving Morris Ledet — who later on become her spouse– she was smitten. She wedded Morris, the bassist in her music group, when she was 17, even though he was on the highway touring regionally with an organization he led, she remained home and required care and attention of her ailing mother-in-law. It had been during this time period of many years that Ledet done her accordion playing, honing her abilities. At first, she’d play along towards the recordings of Boozoo Chavis and John Delafose. She started to find out tunes intuitively, by hearing, and one day time surprised her spouse by playing an entire Delafose music. Her husband urged young Rosie to keep in her attempts, and inside a matter of weeks, she had documented a demonstration of her personal songs and guaranteed a record cope with Maison de Spirit, a zydeco label in close by Ville Platte. In an exceedingly small amount of time, the prolific songwriter released three albums of her personal material, having a support music group that included her spouse and father-in-law on bass and rub table, respectively. Ledet’s albums consist of Sweet Brown Sugars (1994), Zydeco Feeling (1997) and it’s really a Groove Thing! (2000), all for the Maison de Spirit label from the Smooth City Music Co. in Ville Platte. Most of Ledet’s albums display superb songs, solid vocals and sufficient accordion playing. She and her music group began carrying out in 1994 through the entire Texas-Louisiana triangle, where they continue steadily to concentrate their initiatives, and gradually begun to spread their touring bottom to include all of those other U.S. Ledet and music group have already been on many European tours aswell.
