Ronald “Tubby” Ziegler

Ronald “Tubby” Ziegler — often credited simply seeing that Tubby Zeigler — was an extremely busy drummer in New Orleans through the mid- to past due ’60s. His initial main gig was among the “Playboy Music group” support New Orleans vocalist John Fred, beginning in 1967. Ziegler, bassist Hog Cowart, guitarist Jimmy O’Rourke, and key pad guy Billy Carter — all associates of Fred’s music group — soon produced their very own instrumental outfit, known as Frosty Grits, and became among the best backing groups employed in Baton Rouge. These were noticed by Jerry Wexler and finished up at Atlantic Information’ Criterion Studios in Miami, where they proved helpful jointly from 1969 into 1970 or thereabouts.
