Rollerskate Skinny

Named honoring a turn-of-phrase in the J.D. Salinger traditional Catcher in the Rye, the noise-pop music group Rollerskate Skinny was produced in Dublin, Ireland in 1992 by vocalist/guitarist Ken Griffin, guitarist Ger Griffin (no relationship) and bassist Stephen Murray. After debuting using the 1992 EP Newbie, the group released the ten-inch Trophy before bloating to a quartet by adding guitarist Jimi Shields, younger sibling of My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shields. After putting your signature on to Beggars Banquet, Rollerskate Skinny released their 1994 debut LP Make Voices, accompanied by the EP Threshold; upon Shields’ departure to create Lotus Crown, the rest of the trio agreed upon to Warner Bros. and shipped the wonderful Horsedrawn Wants in 1996.
