Rohey are an Oslo, Norway-based music group whose progressive R&B is element of a lineage which includes ’70s jazz-funk and fusion, ’90s acidity jazz, and 2000s neo-soul and broken beat. Keyboardist Ivan Blomqvist, bassist Kristian B. Jacobsen, and drummer Henrik Lødøen support the solid, faintly smoky tone of voice of Rohey Taalah, a vocalist more comfortable with no-nonsense ballads and complicated uptempo numbers as well. The musicians fulfilled on the jazz conservatory in Trondheim and agreed upon to the Jazzland label once they created original materials and played membership dates and celebrations across Scandinavia. Preceded with the singles “Is normally This All THERE IS CERTAINLY” (which resembled a Mint Condition-versus-Hiatus Kaiyote soundclash) and “I CAME ACROSS Me” (an empowerment anthem in the world of Jill Scott’s “Golden”), the music group released their debut record, A Million Stuff, in 2017. BBC and Worldwide FM DJ Gilles Peterson was among the set’s early followers.
