Roger & the Gypsies

Earl Stanley was the business lead guitarist of the brand new Orleans-based music group, named for Stanley’s cousin Roger Leon, who’d thought in the name of their lead-off solitary, “Move the Hatchet.” Even more of a dance instrumental when compared to a track, “Move the Hatchet” was an infectious little bit of music highlighted by an excellent beat and gorgeous acoustic guitar playing (as well as some mean tambourine), and it had been good enough to be the first strike for Joe Banashak’s Seven-B label, circa 1969. Eddie Bo was the maker and arranger, and got employed as Seven-B’s citizen music director due to his use Roger as well as the Gypsies.
