Rodrigo Amarante

Journeyman singer, songwriter, poet, and multi-instrumentalist Rodrigo Amarante 1st became referred to as an associate of popular Brazilian rock and roll group Los Hermanos. A indigenous of Rio de Janeiro, Amarante became a member of the music group shortly prior to the launch of their 1999 debut recording, which vaulted them in to the spotlight using the strike solitary “Anna Júlia.” Though he performed a minor part on their 1st recording, he became an extremely bigger existence on each of their three following albums, composing and singing a lot of the band’s materials as they changed their audio, adding even more Brazilian and bossa nova affects and downplaying their heavier rock and roll tendencies. During this time period, Amarante became an integral part of Brazilian big music group Orquestra Imperial, who matched notable names in the Carioca pop picture like Nina Becker and Moreno Veloso with veteran music artists to play traditional samba music. In 2006, the orchestra released their debut, Carnaval Só Ano Que Vem, just like Los Hermanos had been winding down toward an indefinite hiatus that happened in early 2007. That same calendar year, he journeyed to California to become listed on indie folk vocalist Devendra Banhart on his record Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon. During this time period, he befriended Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti and multi-instrumentalist Binki Shapiro, as well as the three produced a new rock and roll group called Small Pleasure, who released a self-titled record on Tough Trade in 2008. Through the next many years, Amarante continuing to write music, occasionally adding to various other projects. A set of Los Hermanos reunions happened in ’09 2009 and 2010, but no songs was documented. In 2013, he finally produced his debut being a single artist using the album Cavalo.
